Fiber-optic metering

The PM200 fiber-optic power meter features a 65-dB dynamic range and has a 1-mm Germanium photodetector with a 2.5-mm universal adapter (ST, SC and FC). It stores up to 100 data points and features a simple four-button operation. It also has a large, easy-to-read backlit LCD display. Also available are the PM100-S and PM100-G units, featuring a 55-dB dynamic range and a 7-segment LED display of power in dB and dBm. The PM100-S has a 1-mm silicon photodetector, while the PM100-G has a 1-mm Germanium photodetector, both of which include a 2.5-mm universal adapter.

Optical test port

The Single-Channel 10-Gb Optical nTAP is a test access port designed to support full-duplex data monitoring up to 20 Gbps. The optical device splits the signal from the full-duplex connection between the network and the monitoring device. For networks that demand full-duplex gigabit analysis, TAPs are a preferred option when compared to SPAN ports or port mirroring. Unlike a SPAN port, a TAP cannot drop packets, will not affect switch performance, and the 10-Gb nTAP can assure up to 20 Gbps of data delivery to the analysis device. The 10-Gb nTAP works with all leading security and network-management tools, and is available in a single-channel form factor, configured for multimode and SC-type connections.

Flexible plenum cables

The PlenumPlus family of copper cables is manufactured with a Thermoplen LCTM jacket. The new cable jacket offers flexibility, strip-ability and reduced memory effect for ease of installation with reduced coiling. These cables meet stringent NFPA tests for flame spread and smoke for improved fire safety performance. PlenumPlus cables are available from stock in blue or white jacket colors in 4-pair MegaLAN CAT 5e+, 4-pair AdvanceNet CAT 6e and 4-pair GigaLAN CAT 6e+. Designs for 25-pair CAT 5e and fiber cables are under development.

Cable support

Non-metallic enclosures

The NBB Series of large non-metallic enclosures are lightweight and cost less than metallic enclosures, while retaining dur-ability and strength for most applications. Indoor versions are made from ABS/PC blended plastic with a UL94-5VB flammability rating, and outdoor versions are PC/PBT blended plastic with UL94-5VA flammability rating and a UV stabilizer. Gasketed front doors for the enclosures feature non-metallic hinges and latches for maximum durability and corrosion resistance, and are available in either solid gray or clear finish. Threaded brass inserts in selected internal and external mounting bosses increase holding strength and allow for repeated fastening.

Fire-stopping solution

The EZ-Path cable pathway is an approved fire-stopping device for telephone, data, low-voltage, power and control cables penetrating fire-rated floors and walls. The device combines fast-acting intumescent fire-stopping technology with a through-wall penetrating device to ensure the integrity of the fire rating (four hours) is maintained. Cables may be added or changed without disturbing the fire-stopping material. The system automatically adjusts to the number of cables installed. Single or multiple devices can be installed for additional capacity, segregation of cables and cable management.
