Metro wireless

The MOTOMESH Multi-radio Broadband Solution’s architecture supports up to four radio networks in a single access point. The product provides fixed and mobile broadband access to users in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz band, as well as in the new licensed 4.9 GHz public safety band. Combining the 4.9 GHz band with the 2.4 GHz unlicensed band allows municipalities to address the needs of both government and commercial users with a single deployment. Users of the network can leverage its mesh networking properties and seamless connectivity by deploying high-speed instant tactical broadband networks for data communications in areas where physical infrastructure may be damaged or destroyed.

Mesh networking

The EnRoute400 is a commercial off-the-shelf device for mesh communications that provides “wireless broadband to go” for emergency response, homeland security, military and industrial applications. The unit uses a radio-independent wireless networking software suite, which enables each device to route and repeat network traffic–creating a wireless virtual private network for peer-to-peer and peer-to-many communication. The mesh-networking technology and devices extend the reach of mobile voice, video and data applications beyond the limitations of existing infrastructure because they do not require an Internet access point or labor-intensive configuration to deploy.

WLAN security

BlueSecure Intrusion Protection System, version 3.1, is a dedicated wireless LAN monitoring and intrusion-protection system to protect an organization’s network from wireless-based attacks. New features include active containment of rogue devices, advanced RF spectrum analysis, and enhanced reporting that meets government and Department of Defense deployment requirements for wireless LANs. Additionally, with a new client-server architecture, the system now offers enterprise-class scalability for larger, multisite deployments. The software includes client and server components, allowing multiple operators to access security information and administer the system from separate consoles while maintaining continuity. User access is password protected and controlled with configurable user profiles. End-user pricing is based on the number of sensors deployed, with 10-, 50-, and 100-sensor pricing.

RF planning and management

In addition to RF planning, the RingMaster WLAN lifecycle management suite includes new wizard-based configuration tools, automatic configuration verification, advanced change management, highly scalable monitor servers and new time-based reports. Device configurations are automatically verified in real time with an embedded rules engine. Instant feedback is provided for configuration errors and suggested fixes can be implemented with a single mouse click. Real-time change-management features automatically detect and alert RingMaster users to any configuration changes that occur in Mobility Exchange switches and Mobility Points by any administrator, anywhere in the network. A monitoring window or “dashboard” provides simple navigation through a wireless network to obtain detailed performance and fault information.

Remote data access

The Secure Mobile Enterprise (SME) system gives mobile workers instant, secure and cost-effective access to all their latest data files and e-mail when not in the office. The wallet-sized device receives and stores encrypted data, then continually streams it to the worker’s personal digital assistant or other computer for viewing. The enterprise-grade solution employs off-the-shelf hardware and software and operates over existing wireless networks. SME is always-on, opportunistically utilizing both cellular and Wi-Fi networks. Files of all sizes are pre-positioned during otherwise idle moments. Once files are pre-positioned, only changes to those files are thereafter transmitted, speeding data delivery.
