Fiber enclosures

The FERM36S is a 2U fiber enclosure that includes a tinted plexiglass window and can be fitted with up to six adapter panels and two splice trays, allowing 72 fibers in the low-profile enclosure. The unit is designed to be mounted on a 19” or 23” relay rack, and is an easily accessible direct termination and splice solution for LAN applications. A smaller 1U unit, and larger 3U and 4U models are also available, capable of supporting up to 144 fibers. The enclosures feature a front slide-out tray that locks in place to assure no strain on fibers. The enclosures are also equipped with cable-management and routing accessories to maintain proper bend radius and strain-relief control. There is an open, flat surface area on the tray for application of adhesive labels for proper fiber identification.

Fabric switches

The Sphereon 4400 and Sphereon 4700 are scalable, feature-rich and easy-to-manage 4-Gbps Fibre Channel fabric switches. The switches support wizards for simple installation; unrestricted, non-blocking universal Fibre Channel ports to minimize complexity of adds, moves and changes to a SAN; and FICON CUP capability (on the 4700), which enables seamless integration into mainframe environments. Standard features include: auto-negotiation of 1-, 2- and 4-Gbps speeds for backward compatibility;
FlexPort technology to provide scale-on-demand, pay-as-you-grow capability; unrestricted non-blocking universal Fibre Channel ports; online code upgrades and activation; and browser-based EFCM Basic.

Angled patch panels

The redesigned line of Angled Patch Panels and accessories offer increased user effectiveness, with a unique dual-angle design that provides optimal rack density, improved punch-down accessibility, and simplified cable and patch cord management. The low-profile panels keep terminations within a standard 3” depth rack and allow more aisle space in small closets. Leviton’s complete angled panel product line includes eXtreme 10G, eXtreme 6+ and GigaMax 5e Universal Panels, QuickPort Field-Configurable Panels and a full array of accessories, including cable-management bars, blank panels and patch cord organizers.

Airflow control

Snake Air is an air flow manager for data centers. With equipment and servers producing excess heat, controlling air flow has become a critical factor in maintaining a proper temperature in the data center. The device’s design blocks stray air from escaping from under the raised floor to prevent overheating sensitive equipment, and lowers the costs of cooling the data center. The Snake Air installs by hand and requires no extra tools or hardware.

Affordable rack

The HP 5642 customer-assembled rack is designed for the value-conscious customer. With 42U of racking capacity and 680 Kg/1,500 lbs. of static load capacity, the rack has industry-standard dimensions of 19” between the two front RETMA rails. The perforated rear door is lockable, preventing intrusion to the cable and power supply area of the rack. The side panels are necessary for proper air flow and are included with each HP 5642 rack. Leveling feet are standard, while the stabilizing feet, baying kit and front door are optional. The combination of a perforated rear door and optional front door allows sufficient air flow for cooling, and the 1,000-millimeter depth provides room for deeper servers and bulky cabling requirements.

Media conversion

Designed for Ethernet applications in a campus/building environment when distance exceeds 90 meters, the ST Multimode FO to UTP Media Converter helps reach a distant point, interconnect LAN segments and build a backbone when conduits are full. The unit features 10/100-Mbps auto-negotiation over UTP, auto MDI/MDIX, 100 Mbps over multimode fiber optics (50/125um or 62,5/125um), status indicating LEDs, and a full-duplex/half-duplex selector with diagnostic options. Two fibers can be used for full-duplex operation (TX/RX), with distances up to 2,000 m (6,600’) over multimode fiber-optic cable
(62.5-um or 50-um core, 125-um cladding).
